Show your edit style for a chance to win a free $149 iPod Nano™. It takes vision to capture a good photographic image, and it takes another kind of vision and editing technique to transform an ordinary image into an extraordinary photographic print. We created this completion to show the wide-range of image editing approaches. Show us your style!

An image of a shrimp boat called Beachcomber is your starting point. Entering the competition is simple. Download. Edit. Upload. Wait until we have 50 entries. A random drawing will determine the winner of an 8GB iPod Nano™.

Tips

• Early submissions are good. Once a particular style has been selected for display in the gallery all similar images will be rejected even if they are done slightly better.
  
• Diversity, creativity, and talent are what we are looking to find.
• It is all about editing images that make great prints. The “Beachcomber” image is 4,320 x 2,880 pixels, which makes an excellent print for 13” x 19” paper. Make sure your image looks good as a print—not, just an image on a screen.
• You may crop the image in any way even if the original aspect ratio is changed.
  
• Exceptionally well-done black and white images are encouraged.
• Images that are simple variations of effects from commonly used plug-ins are not likely to be selected for display.
• You may add your own textures; or, use one or more additional images in your submitted image.
• Before editing, view the currently accepted images, then take a different editing path from those already accepted.

 

Rules

• One 8GB iPod Nano will be awarded when fifty (50) different images have been selected and displayed on the online gallery.
• The winner of the iPod™ will be selected by assigning all the selected images with a number from 1 to 50. A computerized random number generator will be used to select one winning images.
• Who can enter? Anyone living within the U.S. as we will only ship the iPod Nano™ to U.S addresses.
• When is the deadline for submitting entries? There is no specific deadline. A winner will be picked once the gallery displays 50 images.
• Is there a limit to how many times I can enter? Yes. You may only submit a single entry.  
  
• Odds of winning: If your image gets picked to be displayed in the gallery, your odds of winning are one in 50!

 

How do you enter the competition?

Entering is easy. Download the original image. Edit it. Use the entry form below to upload and submit your edited image. Once you submitted your image, you will get an e-mail notifing you that we received your image.

Click http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5556924/beachcomber.jpg to display the image in your default browser. Right-click on the image and choose Save Image As to save the file to your hard-drive.

 

To Upload Your Entry

You should edit and submit the original image without down-sizing it. It is acceptable to reduce image size by cropping, or changing horizontal or vertical scale; but, the competition is about editing an image that makes a good print so down-sizing the image is not recommended.

To upload your edit image Just complete the following form and your entry will be submitted. If your images is selected to be displayed in the gallery, it will be on display within two weeks of your submission.
